Daniel Dingley III Fire Victim Fundraising Group
The Daniel Dingley III Fire Victim Fundraising Group raised closed to $30,000 in less than 2 months and would like to thank everyone for attending and or donating to the Sunday, April 11th Prayer Ceremony; Saturday, April 17th Bowl-A-Thon; Saturday, May 1st Benefit; and or the Sunday, May 16th Softball Tournament. We would also like to thank all those who personally donated directly at a Pioneer Bank (we don’t have a list of who donated). Although we are still accepting and need donations, we do wish to Thank everyone for making our fundraising efforts successful.
Since April 2, 2010, Danielle Newell and I have been assisting the Dingley Family with fundraisers to raise funds to cover expenses for Danny Dingley III. I will soon be launching a website "D3 Foundation" soon. The D3 stands for Danny Dingley III.
The hardest part of Danny’s recovery is yet to come when he returns to school so I try to visit Danny about once every week or so to see how he is doing and if there is anything he would like, etc. I have seen how the public treats anyone including children that are scared, burned, etc and I hope this community is the exception so that we all can make his road to recovery as “easy” as possible.
Danny Dingley III, at the time of the fire, was a six year old first grade pupil at Heatly School in Green Island, New York. He was trapped inside his second-floor Hudson Avenue apartment when a fire started around 8am on Good Friday, April 2, 2010. After being heroically rescued by the Green Island Fire Department, Danny was taken to Albany Medical Center and immediately air-lifted to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, where he remained for six weeks, two weeks in a medically induced coma, with his family by his side, in critical condition with second degree and third degree burns to his chest, left torso, left and rights arms, neck and left side of his face, a total of approximately 70-80% of his upper body.
Thanks again, Bill |

WOW! Is the faculty really that gullible that they really thought you created such a page. Apparently a little research is too hard for them huh? Let everyone know how this turns out and keep this thread updated. Very interesting stuff. Let us know if we can help. |

HEATLY SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT MAKES FALSE ACCUSATION
Mr. Jack McKinney, Superintendent of Heatly School accused me of creating a Facebook page, called Heatly School, without the authority to use the Heatly School name and has threatened legal action unless I delete the page.
On Wednesday, May 5, 2010, I received a letter from Mr. Jack McKinney, Superintendent of Heatly School, accusing me of developing a Facebook page named: Heatly School.
I immediately went online to check out this page on Facebook and found out it was a Facebook Community Page of which I was not a member of but one of my “status comments” was appearing on the Heatly School Facebook Community Page. Other comments from other Facebook members also appeared on the Heatly School Community Page but those Facebook members did not receive a letter from Mr. McKinney accusing them of creating / developing the page.
Knowing and able to prove that I did not create the page and after researching the page went to my neighbor, Mr. Norman Stebbins, President of the Heatly School Board of Education to inform him of what I found out. I informed Mr. Stebbins that I did not create the page and would prove to him who did. When confronted with this information Mr. Stebbins told me that I made a comment on the page so therefore I am the creator. I also tried to explain to Mr. Stebbins that the comments on the page are taken from Facebook members actual pages because they reference the name “Heatly School” in their status comments. Mr. Stebbins then asked me why was supporting Melissa Bouchey when I have no idea about the situation, no right to make supportive comments about the situation, can’t even vote on the school budget and can’t even sign the petition showing support since I was not a home owner. I was taken by surprise over the more concern about my comment supporting Ms. Melissa Bouchey than who was the actual creator of the page. It was then that I realized that I got singled out and falsely accused because of my support comment for Ms. Melissa Bouchey and this made me curious so I decided to attend my first Heatly School Board of Education Meeting which was a joke.
I then contacted Facebook and received two emails confirming that I was not the creator / developer of the Heatly School page and Facebook even explained about the page in one of their emails.
Apparently, Mr. McKinney, a Superintendent of a High School as well as the entire Board of Education Members of Heatly School many of whom are or were teachers at Heatly School had no idea how to access the Facebook Help page or to contact Facebook, conduct research on Facebook Community Pages or conduct an investigation before making accusations.
I have on several occasions written to the Legal Counsel/Attorney for Heatly School; Mr. McKinney, Superintendent of High School at the time; and the Heatly School Board of Education informing and supplying them all with the emails from Facebook, only to receive no response whatsoever.
I thought teachers and faculty were the ones that parents are to rely on to educate and show by example to students how to be respectful, honest and responsible as well as giving them the right direction in life? Not how to lie and be a fraud! |

Good point but everyone will view things differently around here. I'm perfectly fine with them as long as they treat everyone equally, but at times, that does not appear to happen and that's what aggravates me the most along with many others. We once called the cops and they basically never showed up. It took 2 more calls and about 1 hour later and a cop finally showed up...now that's just plain ridiculous! Biggest problems is 99% of the cops are all new P/T cops who were fired from other forces because...well you get the point. |

You are SOOO wrong with your assumptions, my friend. I lived in GI for over 20 years. I still have family there. There's little one can do about the fact that the community is small and the mayor is likely to know everyone but that doesn't mean the jobs are given only to political friends--just those in the community who apply and are qualified for the jobs. They give the kids great opportunities to grow and learn and make life-long connections. Perhaps if you had a kid instead of a dog you'd have a better attitude about things!! Just a thought, friend. |

Sorry to hear that. Honestly, it must be extremely tough owning your own business and all the daily operations needed to keep afloat. If your shop does move, please feel free to send us your updated information such as address change so we may update our records.
Thank you and we wish you the best of luck! |

Well it is sad to say but some things never change. The store is still coming soon.My shop had to close for the winter months because it could not support paying rent and heat. Now my space is going up for rent.If it is rented ,I will be moved to the back onto Paine Street. If people did not know I was located on George then they will never know I have been moved to Paine. My shop it seems is about to become a statistic on the lists of closed businesses that could not survive in Green Island.I will keep you posted on my shops' status but it does not bode well for me.Thank you for the support this site has shown.I do appreciate it. |

I agree on all of these grounds. I hate that I have to leave GI just to get a quart of milk or a 2-liter of soda...
That new convenience store near George and Arch has had a "Coming Soon" sign on it since September/October...The mayor even spoke of it in her letter twice...and here we are almost March, and still nothing...
I must say that I had better thoughts of GI before actually moving here (I used to live/work in Albany, now work in Troy, live in GI).
I do not feel as though the people in this community are friendly/welcoming.
The only thing I have managed to learn is the "parking war" which I was hoping to have gotten away from after leaving Albany, but apparently not... |

I personally think that the fact that you are not able to have your dog with you in ANY of the parks is unfair. I am a responsible citizen who cleans up after my dog, makes sure that she is under my control at times, and is properly licensed and vaccinated. And instead of her being able to run and romp in appropriate settings, she is confined to a life on the leash...
So perhaps if more people wanted to frequent parks with all of their family members (canine included) there would be more sets of eyes in the parks to be able to help prevent things like the above happnening.
Just posting a sign saying "for residents only" isn't going to keep non-residents out, and really what does a sign like that say about a community...It doesn't make a community seem warm or welcoming that's for sure... |

Exactly. I know those teachers and some of them earn their money and are excellent but let me tell you...most of them are very unqualified. |
